Small wall safe with an electronic keypad

Small safe locked up in Rhawnhurst? Call or text Mike at (661) 927-7473 or email info@aspiresafeandlock.com. A photo of the front of the safe, including the keypad and any keyhole, tells him most of what he needs.

Small safes, big problems

Rhawnhurst has rowhomes and twins, but also a good number of apartment buildings. In smaller homes, the safe is usually a small keypad box in a closet, bolted to a shelf, or set into a wall. Those little safes matter more than their size suggests, because the things people keep in them are the things they need on short notice: passports, birth certificates, a car title, cash, jewelry.

Most failures to open are battery related. Otherwise the code was forgotten, or the keypad or the lock itself failed.

What Mike handles in Rhawnhurst

Before you pry

It's tempting to go at a small safe with a screwdriver. Don't. Check the battery, and if that isn't it, call.

Questions people ask

Can you open a small closet or wall safe without wrecking it?

Mike's goal is to open any safe in the least destructive way possible, in a reasonable amount of time, and then repair it correctly so it goes back into service.

I changed the batteries and the keypad still won't work. Now what?

Mike recommends only Duracell Procell or Energizer Industrial batteries, with an expiration date five or more years out. If the battery and the wires are good and the keypad still won't work, the keypad or the lock may have failed. Call to schedule an appointment.

My roommate moved out. Should I rekey?

If they had a key and didn't hand back every copy, yes. Rekeying makes old keys stop working without replacing the lock. If they knew a safe code, change that too. See rekeying.
